Narrative therapy

Narrative Therapy focuses on separating person from emotions, events, and trauma to process from an external “third person” lens. This may take the form of drawing, forming short allegorical stories, or even just structuring conversations in the 3rd person, .

At Lost, two main modalities of narrative therapy used are within short stories and song writing/ production.

Learn how to use your writing or music as a tool to better understand emotions, yourself, and the world. After processing the issue and establishing goals, we identity the core emotional themes in your situation’s “storyline.” From there, we identify the pillars of a fictional world to process what is going on and examine it from different perspectives and how this impacts your life.

For music sessions, we will start by choosing instrumentals or creating the song with in-studio instruments or Logic Pro 11 (a digital audio workstation). We will use the above narrative themes as a foundation for the composition or lyrics. After, we will process how this relates to your real life and structure productive solutions.
